Sam Wong Hotel (tab)

That's it. It's a bit difficult toplay, but not as much as it looks.

And as usual if there are any mistakes or typos, please notify me !

Have fun.

Re: Sam Wong Hotel (tab)

Fantastic! Thats a low tuning even for Kozelek. Almost Nick Drake-low. Nice one pierre!

Re: Sam Wong Hotel (tab)

It is and strangely it's one of the songs on the record that starts with quite "high" notes so it doesn't sound like it's that low... It surprised me.

Re: Sam Wong Hotel (tab)

Nice! This might be my favourite track on the album. Shame I just got to work so it is a long time until I can try it out.

Also, Open B! My guitar isn't going to be happy with that one, haha.

Re: Sam Wong Hotel (tab)

Hey, Pierre, these tabs are great, I'm just ripping through them at breakneck speeds.
I tried figuring out the outros to Alesund and The Leaning Tree, but didn't get very far at all; any chance you could post them sometime when you're free?  It'd be much appreciated.
Otherwise, thanks again for your great work!

Actually, no need to detune that much unless you want to be "correct" or your voice requires it. In fact, most of the AFP songs so far are variants of the same CGCXGC, where X is tuned up or down depending on song. This is also how Mark handled it during his show in Stockholm, mostly he just tuned the 3d string up or down.

In fact, this is DADGAD tuned down and the G moved around....

Pierre, you are a tab monster, thank you once again!

I agree, when playing live MK rarely tries to re-create the exact same tuning, he just changes a few string to get the right chord structure without minding if on the record the song is actually played half a tone or a full tone lower.

The only two songs, I think, that don't rely on the same basic structure are Half Moon Bay and You are My Sun, the first one being in the same tuning as Mistress and the second one being in a tuning akin to the one he uses on Riff Raff.

Re: Sam Wong Hotel (tab)

Speaking of which, Pierre, any idea of the tuning Mark uses for the live version of Duk Koo Kim (like in the Giske video)? I really like the live version of that song and haven't found any tabs... so maybe I'll try to finagle something together, but I'm not sure how to tune the guitar.

Re: Sam Wong Hotel (tab)

Could it be something along the lines of : CGCDAB ?

I did a tab there : http://www.blueguitar.info/tabs/dukkookim.txt

It's the one at the bottom. But the fingering in the main chord is wrong, it's not 000220 but something along the lines of 097900 if I remember it right, at least that's how he plays it live I think... You may have to correct me there.
