Looking to trade some Vinyl

In the past, I had thought that this would not be a very appealing trade to anyone but seeing what April has gone for on ebay recently, it now seems more comparable.

Looking to trade "April" Marbled, Sealed and "Tonight", Black, Sealed and I'll even throw in Cat Power - Jukebox deluxe addition sealed

ALL of those for either Rollercoaster OR If you want blood

Re: Looking to trade some Vinyl

I agree, but.... I have been surprised to see so many new fans that didn't even discover Mark until April and don't care for the early stuff. I happen to be a fan of it all. As stated, in the past I would have never, ever (actually blasphemy) to consider April a comparable trade for Roller Coaster but recent sales on ebay show a different picture of current supply, demand and value.

Re: Looking to trade some Vinyl

example- an April 12th, if you want blood sold for $80

April Marbled sold last month for $150

If you want to talk about novelty items Duk Koo Kim 10" sold for $62 the other day. I am at least offering a really good trade by todays standards based solely on my tastes, hoping to sync with someone elses tastes in which to both come out for the good

Alternative, sell my April on ebay for $150+ taking advantage of crazy people and then buy rollercoaster.

Knowiing how you feel about ebay, DD, if anyone, you should appreciate this.

I love Ebay,

when you explain it this way I understand, however, buying a record for it to remain sealed seems to me to be counter-productive to listening pleasure.

Like buying Ice-cream for it to melt, though vinyl melts at a different temperature,
my billy joel effigy confirms this at halloween

Warning DD ! Criticizing people who buy albums not to listen to them has proven dangerous around this forum... wink

Personally I'd say it's more like buying ice-cream to keep it untouched in your freezer forever.

Re: Looking to trade some Vinyl

April for $150 was an aberration.  It goes for $50 to $75 - no matter what kind of vinyl it is pressed on.  What you had with the $150 auction was two bidders who were losing sight of reality.  I'm sorry to say, but Rollercoaster is far rarer, and worth much more than what you have on offer here.  If You Want Blood is arguably more rare and goes for higer prices than even Rollercoaster.

In any event, good luck.

I've had emails offering me more than $150 for my marbled April, I guess the ebay situation can get out of hand...competitive bidding and such. Then again there are for sure a few people who will pay way more for April than rollercoaster. It might tie into the SKM/RHP fan divide, a narrow divide but there are people who listen to SKM and not much RHP.

I'll admit I rarely play my 4AD era records, but the prices I paid for them were worth it to me...hardly an aberration. It's not a "buying ice-cream to keep it untouched in your freezer forever" situation, it's more of an aged Scotch you keep around to drink on special occasions.

But keeping them sealed, come onnnnnnn open them, listen to them...enjoy them.

Dude.  I would take the $150 for the April LP, buy a replacement one on ebay for $50, then spend the difference on the scotch.

Novel way to turn profit, I'm sure there are people out there doing this to perpetually fuel constant profit.

Re: Looking to trade some Vinyl

ok, time to come clean....

I love vinyl. I collect vinyl. I have several thousand records. None of them sealed, except..

I have several $150 records and the first thing I do when they come in the mail is open it and play it. I buy records to listen to them. Some of Mark's stuff is soooo limited and is sold out so quickly and then up on ebay for 5 times the price that, out of frustration and irritation and revenge, when April Marbled hit the market, I bought 6 copies. When tonight hit the market I bought 3 copies. The Cat Power record was a duplicate shipment and that is why I have an extra copy sealed. When I do sell the April marbled on ebay, it will be to turn around and buy more records to enjoy myself.

So there you have it guys. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
