River - Old Ramon

Submitted By: Santiago Cano (santibone@yahoo.es)

Easy song but I like it... I submitted to Markus Site too.

River - Old Ramon

Em:022400

Em Bm A Fm# x4

Em Bm A Fm#
I know you're willing and able
Em Bm A Fm#
There by the wooden table
Em Bm A Fm#
Won't you come on over to my side?
         Em Bm A Fm#
And you know I'll treat you right

Em Bm A Fm#
There at the water
Em Bm A Fm#
There is the water you drink
Em Bm A Fm#
Won't you come on over to my side?
            Em Bm A Fm#
And you can drink from my...

G A
Down through the dirt you lead us
G A
Across the sand you'll disappear
Fm# G
Will you come back?
G A
I feel you won't need us
G A
I feel you won't miss us
Fm# G
Will you come back?

Em Bm A Fm# x8

Em Bm A Fm#
Back in the summer
Em Bm A Fm#
I fell into your space
Em Bm A Fm#
With an understanding
Em Bm A Fm#
When I just looked in your face

Em Bm A Fm#
There at the water
Em Bm A Fm#
You wash your skin
Em Bm A Fm#
Sleep on the violets
              Em Bm A Fm#
Until you're covered in dust again

          Em Bm A Fm#
I know you're hungry and tired
      Em Bm A Fm#
All alone by the fire
           Em Bm A Fm#
Won't you come, come on over to my side?
         Em Bm A Fm#
And you know...

G A
Down through the dirt you lead us
G A
One kiss before you leave
Fm# G
Will you come back?
G A
And sleep tonight beside me?
G A
The morning comes I feel alive
Fm# G
Will you come back?

F Em
And two yellow eyes remember
F Em
Souls of ancient lies
F Em
And she sees them dance and hears them
F Em
moan and cry
C Em
And two yellow eyes reveal
C Em
Warmth and love inside
C Em
And she wears her mask pulls on her
  C Em
gloves

F Em
And two yellow eyes remember
F Em
Souls of ancient lies
F Em
And she sees them dance and hears them
F Em
moan and cry
C Em
And two yellow eyes reveal

Re: River - Old Ramon

I have really wanted to play this song and my ideas for it are based off of the KCRW acoustic performance.  The tuning, as I read it, is from low to high

E B E A D F#

This, of course, can be duplicated by a simple

D A D G C E tuning with the capo on the second fret.

The operative part of the tuning is that the bottom E is lowered one full step from normal and that the B is raised one half step.

The chords, as I read them, for the verse are:

0       0       0      0
9       0       0      0
7       4       4      0
0       5       0      0
0       0       5      2
0       0       5      2

Maybe someone could try this out, and see what they think.  If it sounds good, reply and I can post the rest of what I think are the chorus and amazing bridge and concluding parts.

Re: River - Old Ramon

Hello, nice tab. It's quite a tricky song to suss out exactly how he's playing it. I tried working it out ages ago and I always play it in DADGAD like this. When you see him play it live his fingers are pretty much in the same posistions to this tab apart from the A chord which instead or moving down to the second fret, he just moves above the first chord and uses a chord there. You could always give this one a try as well and see what you think.

DADGAD

D|--7--0--0--0----0--
A|--7--2--3--0----0--
G|--7--0--0--4----0--
D|--0--2--2--0----2--
A|--0--0--0--5----2--
D|--0--------5--0h2--

And if you wanted to keep your fingers in the same posistion as him, I think this is how he plays it.

D|--7---------0----0--
A|--7--0--0---0----0--
G|--7--x--x---4----0--
D|--0--9--10--0----2--
A|--0--7--7---5----2--
D|--0---------5--0h2--

Re: River - Old Ramon

With help from both of your tabs as well, I now think the tuning is DADGCD and I'm pretty sure he plays it like this. I've just been watching the video of him playing it and the fingers match up now.

D|--0---------0----0--
C|--9--0--0---0----0--
G|--7--0--0---4----0--
D|--0--9--10--x----0--
A|--0--7--7---5----2--
D|--0--7--7---5--0h2--

Re: River - Old Ramon

From another look, I actually think he does have his bottom string tuned to E so your tab is spot on. Just switch the second chord to the one from mine where he moves it up and it's pretty much complete.

Re: River - Old Ramon

Sorry I accidentally deleted the tab I put up before and I didn't save it. This chord here. From the video it looks like he plays this for the second chord.

E|-----
C|--0--
G|--0--
D|--9--
A|--7--
D|--7--

And sometimes he might add an extra note like this.

E|---------
C|--0--0---
G|--0--0---
D|--9--10--
A|--7--7---
D|--7--7---

"Sometimes I pick it up and play. Loosen and stretch it's ancient strings, until it sounds the way I feel."
