Smokey (demo - Nights LP)

The tab by Luc Perkins (Lucas.R.Perkins@directory.reed.edu) on BlueGuitar is very close, so I'll just add a couple of details that make it sound even closer to Mark's version (at least, I think ...). And easier to play too ...

Nice tab, much simpler than mine, there're several problems though.

Listen to the first chorus very closely : on "It ain't contrived" and right before "Come down like a storm" you can hear Kozelek do a little hammer-on on a low string that, if played with your tuning, would have you go :

1----------   which would prove difficult, if not impossible, without changing your hand position.

Also, you can hear the low F# (played by your open low-E string) ringing throughout that chord, which can't be done in that tuning.

Finally, your transition chord (between choruses and verses) sounds good except that in the song you can still hear an open B string resonating which won't here since your pinky's on the B string. I think the high E string is tuned down to B (you can never hear that open E string anyway).

I did a tab (on Blueguitar) that's probably wrong (it seems too complicated to me, the tuning too far fetched). Could this be Kozelek's most difficult song ?
