Sadly, no...I couldn't. I just wanted to give everyone a head's up that I have (from a good source) just been told that Philadelphia and D.C. will be added to the list shorty.

Due to several reasons, but really only one, I was not able to go either.  The weather Saturday afternoon and night was violent off an on so I wonder how the turnout was in general.  I hate that I had to miss this one.

The girlfriend and I actually considered making the 4.5 hour drive down to Durham for this, but ultimately couldn't bring ourselves to do it.  We reminded ourselves that it was just about a year ago we drove up to Philadelphia with high expectations but ended up sitting in uncomfortable pews at the back of a large church with the volume so low we could barely hear him, and Mark was a huge cunt the whole night and wouldn't let the sound be turned up.  So fuck him.  We'll see him when he comes to D.C.

Re: 03/24/12 @ Brickside Festival, Durham, NC

My first Kozelek show was last Saturday at Duke for the 1st annual Brickside Festival.  I traveled 5 hours from Harrisonburg, Virginia and was first in line to get wristbands needed for the shows.   He headlined the shows at the Frederic Jameson Art Gallery.  Kurt Vile headlined the shows at the other venue (Duke Coffeehouse which seats 260).  There were 60 there (capacity for the gallery).  Mark kept asking for more reverb in the guitar as well as his vocals.  He played some requests (Trailways, River and Mistress).  One girl (a Duke cheerleader?) requested Carry Me Ohio which Mark grudgingly played.  She said that she loved him.  Mark commented on the many white kids in shorts in the audience.  Since there were no spotlights, he was in darkness and the crowd was lit brighter than he was so he got to see the audience clearly.  I'm sure it was refreshing for a performer.  He played for about an hour which was normal for the amount of bands appearing there).  The setlist follows (with the new songs that I don't know the titles for in quotation marks):

13
Glenn Tipton
"Juan Valdez"
"Missed My Heart"
Among The Leaves
Trailways
Carry Me Ohio
Sunshine In Chicago
Track #8
The Moderately Talented...
River
Mistress

Mark flew across the country to play to 60 people for an hour?

Yep.  He mentioned that he was getting paid well several times.

Thanks for posting rfp3!

Were you worried about getting in?  Was there a line?

Re: 03/24/12 @ Brickside Festival, Durham, NC

I WAS worried about getting in.  I arrived 2 hours early to get my wristband 8 and 1/2 hours before the show (needed to see the show even though I already had tickets).  Several other Kozelek fans showed up shortly after I got there.  There was a line to get in at 8:20 but I'm not sure if the 60 seating capacity was ever achieved.  There was a balcony where those without wristbands could see and hear the show for free.   The wrist bands only guaranteed that one could attend any show at the festival that wasn't filled to capacity so even with tickets and wristbands, there was no guarantee to see Kozelek.  It was nerve wracking for someone who traveled 5 hours.
